BigChefs Tripoli has reached 750 Google reviews. The first BigChefs in Libya, and the first in Africa, opened its doors in the spring of 2023. Three and a half years on, 750 people have rated it publicly on Google.

The road to 750
BigChefs opened in March 2023 with a VIP launch attended by Abdoulaye Bathily, then head of the UN Support Mission in Libya, and five ambassadors. It welcomed its first public diners that April, late in Ramadan, and the count has climbed steadily ever since.
What diners say
Across the reviews Google shows most prominently on the listing, the room and the staff draw the most praise. One reviewer calls the design trendy; another finds the space clean, comfortable and well organised. The staff are described as welcoming, attentive and professional. Opinions on the food are more mixed: one diner found it fresh, generous and well presented, while another felt the quality fell short of the high prices.
One review stands out for its detail. The diner described jazz playing in the background, recommended BigChefs above all for its desserts, drinks and atmosphere, and called the restaurant’s small robot the highlight of the visit. They were frank, too: their burger was overly sweet, and the food could use a little more balance of flavour. The robot is no one-off mention, either: Google’s review topics list robots in 11 BigChefs reviews.
The less glowing notes are consistent: prices sit on the higher side, the room can get loud at the busiest times, some diners report slow service, and parking nearby takes patience. For the full picture, read our guide, Inside BigChefs Tripoli.
Why the number matters
Each of those 750 is a public rating on Google, some with paragraphs of detail, some with stars alone, and nobody is obliged to leave one. Taken together, they are what many people check before choosing where to eat: the praise alongside the criticism. That is why every new review counts, the critical ones included.
